Black And White Holiday Bark

Pin It Now!

Heeellllloooo Holidays! Or at least, hello holiday food!! Today its all about my favorite holiday bark and its very simple to make, no kitchen sink required!

Here's what you'll need:
16 oz. Semi-sweet chocolate, divided
16 oz. White chocolate
1 c Rice Krispies cereal
3/4 c dried cranberries, roughly chopped, divided

Line a 9x13-inch square baking dish with aluminum foil (you can also use an 8-inch baking pan), leaving a two-inch overhang on each side. Measure out & set aside 2 tablespoons of semi-sweet chocolate for the topping. We wont need this bit until later. Place a small glass bowl on top of a saucepan filled with one inch of simmering water. Break the rest of the semi-sweet chocolate into pieces and add it to the bowl. Stir the chocolate until its completely melted. Do not walk away from the bowl! Chocolate can seize up very quickly and once its seized its ruined. Pour the chocolate into the lined dish and smooth the top with the back of a spoon. Chill it in the refrigerator to set up, about 35 minutes. One layer of bark done!

Combine the rice krispies cereal and 1/2 cup of the cranberries in a bowl. Melt the white chocolate in the same way as the semi-sweet being very careful not to let it burn. White chocolate melts at a much lower temperature than other chocolates so try not to turn away from it! Once it's melted pour the rice krispie-cranberry mixture into the white chocolate and gently mix it together. Pour it all into the dish on top of the set semi-sweet chocolate and smooth this layer out taking special care to get it even. Chop the remaining cranberries and sprinkle them over the top. So pretty! Return it to the refrigerator to set up, another 35 minutes. Looks great right?!

After the dish comes out of the refrigerator it's time for the 2 tablespoons of reserved semi-sweet chocolate. Melt it in the same bowl and stir constantly. It won't take long to melt! Once it's melted take a spoon and drizzle it across the bark. Spoon any leftover chocolate directly into your mouth. You have to try it right?! Leave the bark on the counter for 10-12 minutes. Grab onto the foil overhang and carefully pull it out of the dish. Lay it out on a cutting board and carefully remove the foil backing from the bark. Once removed, cut the bark into squares. These can be refrigerated in tupperware for about 2 weeks. Don't worry, it won't last that long!
